Clippers hand Spurs' first Summer League loss
With Kawhi Leonard not playing, the Los Angeles Clippers beat the San Antonio Spurs 86-80 in the nightcap at the Cox Pavilion at the 2012 NBA Summer League on the campus of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
Adam Morrison led the Clippers with 23 points while added Eric Bledsoe 18 markers.
The Clippers dominated the first half, only trailing once, when Cory Joseph connected on a layup with 3:44 to play in the first quarter. At the end of the first quarter, Los Angeles take a 25-19 lead and never looked back.
Los Angeles extended their lead to as many as 19 points in the third quarter, and lead by 16 points 69-53 heading into the fourth period.
The Spurs outscored the Clippers 27-17 in the final quarter but fell short losing by six points 86-80.
Joseph had team-high 22 points and six assists for San Antonio, while Eric Dawson had a double-double 11 points and 13 rebounds. Luke Zeller scored 11 points and Marcus Denmon added seven points.
The Spurs will take on the Miami Heat at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
