After losing the first two games of their first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Denver Nuggets found some comfort in returning to their home floor.
Ty Lawson scored 25 points, JaVale McGee had 16 points and 15 boards and Danilo Gallinari added 13 points and six rebounds as Denver Nuggets used a strong first quarter, on their way to a 99-84 Game 3 victory over the Lakers on Friday night.
Rookie Kenneth Faried chipped in 16 points and 15 rebounds for the Nuggets, who will try to even the best-of-seven series on Sunday night at the Pepsi Center.
The Nuggets grabbed a 55-39 halftime lead by stifling Andrew Bynum down low and forcing Kobe Bryant to work harder for his shots.
Bynum and Bryant got it going in the second half and the Lakers cut their deficit to four points in the third quarter, but Denver eventually hold them off.
Bryant finished with 22 points on 7-of-23 shooting, Bynum had 18 points and 12 rebounds and Pau Gasol finished with 16 points and seven rebounds for Los Angeles.
The Lakers failed to take 3-0 commanding lead in the series, and will take on a confident Nuggets squad on Sunday night in Denver.
