Spurs beat Lakers in Summer League play
Kawhi Leonard and Cory Joseph are playing well at the 2012 Summer League in Las Vegas. Leonard poured in 27 points, eight rebounds and three assist, while Joseph added 18 points, five assists and three rebounds as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Los Angeles Lakers 92-81 in the fifth day of summer league action.
James Anderson scored 13 points and Tyler Wilkerson had 12 points for the 2-0 Spurs.
The Lakers started out strong taking an 8-2 lead early, but San Antonio made an 11-4 run to take a 15-14 advantage with just over a minute to play in the first quarter.
The Spurs opened the game up in the second quarter, with 9-2 blast and then outscored the Lakers 24-17 in the second period to take a 43-35 lead at halftime.
The Lakers trailed by as many as 16 points in the game, but comeback in the third quarter, cutting the Spurs' lead to nine points 62-71, on a Christian Eyenga's 3-point play.
Los Angeles continued their rally during the the fourth quarter, closing the gap to 79-88, with two minutes to play, but San Antonio's Luke Zeller answered back with a deep three from the corner to bring the lead back to nine.
Darius Morris led the Lakers with 24 points, Robert Sacre added 14 points, while Eyenga had 13 points in the loss.
San Antonio returns to action tomorrow when takes on the Los Angeles Clippers at 7 p.m.
